LAST DECENT MAN

The New Crime Novel by Anthony Santoro

Last Decent Man

Book Review: FM Editing & Reviews:
The second Felice novel had me riveted from the first page...this was a cracker!
The characters are gritty, tough and pitifully human. The plot twists and turns but never slows down... Anthony Santoro has managed to pull all this...with a touch of humour.

________

Mike Felice: detective/criminal.

He’s sitting on a million bucks. Money he heisted a long time ago in a vain attempt to inject life into his drab existence, to help dig his way out of the mire that had become life. But that was the past...

But...the past always catches up. Always.

Four years on and police internal investigators have caught the scent of the stolen money. They know Mike is corrupt...they just need to rattle his cage and stir the pot until he slips up.

But Mike knows he’s being watched. He knows he needs to stay calm until the investigation cools down.

When a big murder case is thrown his way, Mike has an opportunity to earn the kudos he needs to keep the investigators off his back...provided he can solve it swiftly. Trouble is, the case isn’t open-and-shut and Mike finds himself working frantically to solve a murder investigation that leads him to the heart of a corrupt corporate underworld where murder and embezzlement are the stock-in-trade.

And the closer he edges towards closing the case, the more he risks being sprung for the stolen millions he has kept under wraps. As the body count rises, Mike feels the heat from the very top of the police hierarchy. All eyes are on him - a wrong move could expose his dark past and sink him.

Just when he thinks he can wash his hands of his crooked past, another lucrative opportunity rears its ugly head and once again Mike is faced with a very, very tough decision.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I read it, cover to cover in three days because I couldn't put it down. The first one was great, but I loved this even more than The Deception! KM

Anthony Santoro has really captured Melbourne in this book. Definitely a great read. There's a film to be made out of this, fure sure. GB

About the Author

Anthony Santoro was born in Melbourne in 1975 and currently resides in Melbourne’s Western Suburbs. For many years he worked extensively in the debt collection industry, even starting his own freelance debt collection agency. Naturally, this presented him with a great deal of material for his crime-fiction books.

But writing was always Anthony’s first love and, no matter what other business venture he was working on, he always returned to the keyboard to continue his stories. While living and working in the US, he started writing a crime-fiction novel loosely based upon his experiences in the debt collection industry. Although he wrote the book almost exclusively in the US, the book is based entirely in Melbourne, Australia.

In 2005, that book was published by Bas Publishing under the title The Deception and became a very successful release.

Then, in May 2009 he co-authored Get Your Book off the Ground which received praise from many sources, including the Australian Writer Magazine who wrote: “...it is in itself a prime example of how to write and construct a book...”

Between novels, Anthony writes both fiction and non-fiction books. He is also the founder of the Writers’ Resource Centre – an online writers’ ‘help station’ with the stated purpose of helping writers achieve their goals in the field of writing.

Anthony has a passion for the economy and politics and is currently writing a non-fiction book about the Global Financial Crisis.
