The Writers' Resource Centre has been established to furnish the best and most fundamental information available on how to become a good writer. It draws on the knowledge and experience of established authors, writers and publishers, who have contributed their creative and business acumen in order to help other writers get started.

MISSION STATEMENT

We are passionate about writing and about helping people achieve their goals.

We believe the life of a writer should be fun, adventurous and fulfilling. However, if you scan the literature available on the subject of becoming a professional writer, you’ll note the overwhelming number of "statistics" on the subject indicate the opposite.  You’ll be forgiven for coming away feeling a little dismayed.  Per statistics, apparently, you have a better chance of being hit by lightning, attacked by a shark or winning the lotto than getting your manuscript to print or even read by a publisher.

Our best advice is to ignore that type of information.  Even if it’s true, is it really going to help you? Not likely. Instead, get busy writing, perfecting your craft and enjoying your writing.

Don’t worry about getting published; it’s such a small step and not the last by way of "making it" as an author.  Just worry about your craft and your own story, poems and skill with the pen - that’s where your attention should be.

This website is for you - articles, online courses and seminars, our short-story competition, the books - everything here is here to help writers achieve their goals in the field, whatever they may be.

PRINCIPAL CONTRIBUTORS

ANTHONY SANTORO

Anthony Santoro has been writing professionally for nearly a decade. During this time he also worked as a contract debt collector and marketing professional, which provided excellent material for his fiction work.  In 1999, Anthony left Australia to live and work in the US – it was here that he began writing his first crime-fiction novel, The Deception, completing it in 2004 and having it published in 2005.  Using his business and marketing experience, Anthony helped turn this novel into a successful release.  Between novels, Anthony worked extensively editing true-crime novels.  Mastering the ability to write compelling fiction with razor sharp descriptions and gripping crime tales, he is one of a dwindling number of new writers who are offered a publishing deal for their second book.  More recently, Anthony has been completing his second novel, Risk, scheduled for release in 2008.  Anthony brings his skills as a master communicator and speaker to The Writers' Resource Centre and is committed to helping writers find a writing purpose and achieve their goals.
